As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country ~ Proverbs 25:25

Chuck is 30!

Things have been pretty busy around here lately. We were getting ready for my 30th Birthday party. It was a tremendous success. Thanks to all the family and friends that came. I had a blast. This was the best birthday I have ever had. The main reason is that I got to share it with Nicholas. Everything means a little more now that he is here. And last but not least, Debi somehow kept it a secret. Debi, Nick, Debi’s parents, and GJR (Debi’s brother) got me a new bike. I have really been wanting one for a while now ever since I got pretty serious into cycling. Problem is most of the good bikes are pretty expensive. I had pretty much given up on getting one any time soon. However, they surprised me. Thanks a lot to my good old buddy Michael for doing all the research for them and hooking them up with a good deal on a great bike. Y’all made an excellent choice. I couldn’t be happier. Here is a picture of the bike.

Nick had his 4 month pictures taken this past weekend. We will get those up on the photo gallery as soon as we get them cut up and divided out. He had one of his best sittings yet. He smiled real big and the pictures turned out great.

We spoke to soon

After I last reported everything was good, it seems I should have knocked on wood or bought a rabbit’s foot. Both Nick and I are sick. To make matters worse, it looks like Nick got it from me. Yesterday, I was a little achy at work and when I got home I checked and had a fever. It was going up and down, so I stayed home from work today. I mostly watched TV and rested, because I felt too weak to move too much. I took some advil and it helped for a while. I am, also, taking Robitussen to help with my cough. The daycare reports Nick is not doing so good. He was real fussy and coughed an awful lot. Debi took him in for a last minute dr visit and they said it looks like he just has a cold. I just feel bad he got sick from me. It has been a long time since I was this sick. I forgot how bad it was to have a fever. I just hope it goes away by tomorrow.

Things are much better

Nick has been feeling better now for a few days. Man that was tough. I think we felt worse than he did just imagining what he was going through. He has been holding his food down since Saturday. Thank goodness that is over. We took him on Sunday to get his 3-month pictures taken. I will try and get those in the photo gallery as soon as I can. This week at daycare started out kinda rough for Nick. They said he was acting fussy. Today they said was much better and he was a happy camper. He must have just gotten out of his routine while he was sick. Now he seems to be back in the swing of things. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Last Friday, Debi and I went to Nacogdoches and visited our old stompin’ grounds at SFA. We were there for a memorial for one of our favorite professors that we had while we were in school. He passed away recently and they held an informal get together so the alumni and faculty could remember him. It was great to see some old friends as well as the other faculty.

Vote for your team!

Nick is having trouble chosing sides and needs your help.

On one side you have Mommy, Uncle Jr., and Uncle Scot pushing for A&M. Then you have Daddy voting for UT. But Mommy, Daddy, and Grandpa went to SFA. I guess one day he will decide which one he likes best. Then again, they are all in Texas and all are good schools, so I guess he can’t go wrong with any of the three. As long as he doesn’t chose LSU we should be alright :).

Nick’s first virus

Nick went to the doctor again today. He was getting worse and wasn’t holding anything down. He weighs 11lbs 1 oz. Yes, he has lost weight since Saturday. He has a sinus infection and the stomache flu. We have to let it run its course. The doctor seems to think it will be gone by Wednesday since it typically takes 3 to 5 days to get out of their systems. Hope that is the case for little Nick.

Nick still sick

Nick was running a 101.6 fever this morning (1:30AM). The oncall doctor asked us to come in AM to office for visit. He is on antibiotics and a decongestant. He weighs 11lb 10 oz. This afternoon his temperature went up and down between 100.6 and 102.0, so we are waiting to see what meds do for him. Otherwise we will be calling doctor again if his temperature doesn’t go down.

Nick visiting his cousins

Nick went on his first road trip to see his cousins, Tori & Spencer. Nick was a hit with Tori. She wanted to keep him and send Spencer home with us. Tori was very helpful in making sure Nick was feed, changed, and even had a blanket. When no one was in the room with him, she would say “I check on Cousin Nick”. Nick started babbling this weekend at 3AM. What a time to pick to start babbling?

Nick’s first cold

Nick went to the doctor today with his first cold. He has a upper respiratory infection. He now weighs 11 lbs. He is not running a fever or anything just congested.
