2 Week Check Up

Nick had his 2 week well check up today. He now weighs 5 lbs 10 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. He isn’t on the charts yet, because he is still too small. The Pediatrician thinks he will catch up within 2 to 3 months to be in normal infant ranges. We, also, found out he has his mom’s sensitive skin. Nick and mom are both allergic to scented wipes, so unscented wipes is all we can use. Premie diapers are too tight on him, so we have switched him to newborn diapers.

1 Week and 1 day old

Nick’s doctors appointment went well. He is now off the lights and blanket, but we have to keep any eye on him just in case it comes back. He is enjoying his basket better than the light bed. He gained 3 oz, so he is now 5 lbs and 7 oz. Cousin Jacob better watch out, because Nick is gaining on him.

1 Week old

Nick is now 1 week old and in his first halloween outfit. He was a glow worm for Halloween. He is doing fine and can’t wait to get out of the phototherapy bed.

Day 4 at Home

Nick went to the doctor this morning. He has not gained any weigh, but his jaundice level has went down. He has to stay on the phototherapy lights and biliblanket until Monday at least. He will go back again Monday for another blood test to make sure his level is still going down.

Day 3 at Home

Nick had another checkup today for jaundice. He now weighs 5 lbs 4 oz. He is gaining weight but still has jaundice. He is now on light therapy which looks like a tanning bed.

Day 2 at Home

Nick had a good night sleep and is eating good. Mom and dad had a good night sleep too. He went to the doctor today for another checkup and he now weighs 5 lbs 2 oz. He is gaining weight by the day and becoming a little piggy. Doctor has him on phototherapy lights for another day.

Day 1 at Home

He went to the doctor today and he now weighs 5 lbs.

Here is a picture from home. Nicholas is holding his bottle. I have also added some pics to the main gallery for Nicholas. As always, click the picture, or here to go to the photo gallery.

We’re Home

We came home last night. We weren’t sure if were going to be able to because of Nicholas’ higher than normal billirubin level (Jaundice), but his test results were better so they let us take him home. He weighed 4 lbs and 14 oz when we left the hospital. I tried to drive as slow as I could on the interstate. I think this is the first time that Debi has asked me why I was driving so slow instead of too fast.

The first night was interesting to say the least. At 3 AM he finally went down for a nice sleep. Before that it was hit or miss, making for a tiring night for Mom and Dad. We made it though, and we are looking forward to being parents.

Baylor Online Photo

Here is a neat little image that I found that I wanted to post. This is who came to visit us on Sunday morning.

Baylor has posted the online photo of Nicholas. You can see it at http://www.infantxpress.com/depot/20045/announcement/08ba9bff9c503164251b7fc1a7fe216a. This turned out to be a pretty nice photo. He has both eyes open which was a rare occurrence for most of the first day, and he has a little smile too. Thanks to Grandparents and Great-Grandparents for coming up to see the baby on Sunday. We appreciate it. The staff Pediatrician told us that Nicholas will not be able to go home until at least Tuesday. He has also been eating a lot better than he first started out.

Just in case you are wondering, Ladyada and Kiara are doing fine. Chuck is going to make 2 trips each day to let them out and run around a little until we bring Nicholas home.

It’s A Boy!

The stork came today. It delivered us a little boy. Nicholas ShauKay Williamson was born into this world at 1:33 AM on Sunday October 24, 2004. He came a little earlier than expected so he is a tiny little boy. He is 5 pounds 2 oz and 18 inches long. Both Mommy and Baby are doing well. Mommy got her wish to have no pain meds or epidural. I will post more information after we bring the baby home. Click on the image to see the photo gallery, or click here
