We found a school that has a pre-K program. It is the same circulum as public school K program. They gave Nick a backpack. He promptly packed it and said “Mama, I packed my backpack with clothes, books, and a belt for Kindergarten.” Because his birthday is after the cut off (Sept 1st), he won’t be going to K until Fall of 2010. He also thinks he is riding a bus to school next week when he starts his new school (daycare). This school offers private pre-K and K so he doesn’t have to ride the bus until at least 1st grade.

VBS
Nick has been asking for months about his summer church aka VBS. Debi took off work to volunteer so Nick could attend summer church. Nick had a blast. Debi got lost once at least that was according to a 5 year old who got separated from the group. A little girl (5) got separated from Debi’s group and she told her “”You were lost. I knew where I was.”” It was the cutest and funniest thing! She wasn’t lost at all. Gotta love them.
New Belts
Chuck and Nick tested for new belt in Taekwondo. Nick earned his purple belt and Chuck earned his blue. Chuck signed up for Leadership class at the Taekwondo school. He has class every Friday night now. He has to attend at least once a month.
Family Community Service
Our church is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary. As part of the celebration, they asked families to volunteer to serve. Our bible study group selected trash pick up at the local park. We got up bright and early to pick up trash at the park, along the street, and a neighboring subdivision. We followed with a picnic in the park.
Grandma and Nick
Grandma came to take care of Nick for a week. They both had a blast playing and learning. We think he wore out Grandma though. We even took her to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at Nick’s Taekwondo school.
Casting Crown and Rangers
We went to a Rangers game, but before the game we saw a Casting Crown concert at the ball park. We went with some friends. Nick had a blast.
Nick’s sleep study
We took Nick in for a sleep study because he had been waking up 3 to 4 times a night. He also snores really loud. The pedi thinks he isn’t getting enough sleep which is causing him to misbehave a little at school (daycare).
The prelim report shows Nick is very restless at night, he has some attachment issues, and he stopped breathing for more than 15 seconds at a time. The tech said the dr will probably recommend his tonsils to be removed as it is causing him to not get enough air.
Nick and Therapy
Nick had his appointment at Our Children’s House of Baylor for occupational therapy. He has some sensory issues and they are evaluating him to determine what kind of therapy he will need. All in all it went well. The therapist said he is more advanced than most kids his age. He had trouble processing information but once it gets processed he doesn’t forget it. They recommended some treatments to help him deal with things. We will see how it all pans out once insurance approves it all.
We also found out he might have a dairy intolerance. This means he has a hard time processing dairy products. We have a few choices. We can completely remove dairy which means no ice cream or we can give him enzyme pills to help him process it. Still determining what we want to do with it all.
Family pictures for broadcast
We took a family picture that will be shown on the big screen at church on June 6-7th. Yes, that is a Saturday and Sunday. Our church is big enough that it has 3 services (1 Saturday night and 2 on Sunday morning). They also have satelite campus around the DFW metroplex. The message that weekend will be on adoption and it will have pictures of families who are adoption or have adopted along with families who are fostering to adopt or fostering. They are going to show these pictures across all campus’. Since we are apart of the Adoption Ministry at the church, we went and took our picture. Nick had a blast getting his picture taken.
