Parent/Teacher Conference

We had Nick’s 1st parent/teacher conference to see how he is fairing in Kindergarten. Ms Darden says he is doing great. He loves to read. That was a big shocker to us because he never wants to read at home. He loves math and science. That was no surprise to us. On his test to see where he was academically, he did very well for his age. He had a couple of sections he didn’t finish but there were like 2 or 3 questions on 1 section and about 5-10 on the other section. He is right on task for 1st grade in the Fall. She doesn’t think he could function in K again. He will have already learned what the others will be learning which will get him into trouble. Now we are looking for a school that will allow him to start 1st grade even though he won’t be 6 by September 1st. Boy do we have our work cut out for us.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!!

We rang in the new year at home. New Year’s Day we visited Nony and Papoo and stayed the night. Then it was off to the ranch for work. We finally got home Sunday afternoon in time for Chuck to go to a friend’s house to watch the Cowboys and Eagles play. YAY COWBOYS!!!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas !!!

We spend Christmas with the Gee Family. Debi and Samantha (9 year old niece) cooked broccoli rice casserole and the veggies for dressing together. It was Samantha’s first time cooking. She was a little scared to be near the hot oven but did fine. Nick had 3 things again this year on his Santa list: Santa Buddies DVD, remote control helicopter, and yellow motorcycle with red fire on the back. He got Santa Buddies DVD from MeeMaw and Pawpaw and Santa brought the remote control helicopter. No yellow motorcycle with red fire on the back. He asked about why Santa forgot it so we had to explain that just because you ask for it doesn’t mean you will receive it. He was convinced Uncle Jr bought it for him since we were waiting until Christmas night to open the family presents together. He got a Bokugan book which he was happy to get. All of the sudden he is into Bokugan out of the blue. Christmas night was the first time in probably 12 years the Gees were all under the same roof overnight. Gees, Romeros, Tschoepes, and Williamsons all accounted for. The kids all had a blast about sleeping over even though they were in separate rooms so they would go to sleep.

Nick’s new Taekwondo belt

Today, Nick tested for his brown belt decided. He did a great job! He was happy to get a new belt. He can’t wait for his black belt. We told him he has to memorize all the forms and sparring combinations without help to get it. He is super excited about testing for it although he has several more testings to go to test for it.

Nick’s 3rd Field Trip – Winter Wonderland

Nick’s school took up a collection of toys for “Toys for Tots”. Today, they delivered the toys to Winter Wonderland. They played in the maze, watched Charlie Brown’s Christmas, colored, took pictures, and heard the Christmas Story. Afterwards, it was back to school. They had their Christmas party and had lunch with parents. Debi went on the field trip and had lunch with him. He was sad to see her leave but was having fun playing with friends.

Nick’s Christmas List

Since Santa only brings 3 presents, Nick thought long and hard about his Christmas list this year. He only had 3 things on his list since Santa only brings 3.

1) Santa Buddies DVD
2) Remote Control Helicopter
3) Yellow motorcycle with red flames on the back

This list is suppose to go to Uncle Jr and Uncle Jr is suppose to tell Santa what to bring.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Gobble Gobble!! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! We spent Thanksgiving with the Gee Family. The guys (Chuck, PawPaw, Uncle Jr, & Uncle Dean) went hunting after Thanksgiving lunch. Nick, Debi, MeeMaw, Aunt Kim, Uncle Daryl, Tori, & Spencer went to the Gee House. There was no black Friday shopping this year.

Wedding and Visit

We went to a good friend’s wedding and made a trip to see Chuck’s brother, Scot.

Saturday – Off to Vegas
Sunday – Went on the Hoover Dam tour with friends; went to Ethel M. and got chocolate
Monday – Went to Circus Circus for Nick to play; went to the Coke place where we tried a bunch of different coke products from around the world (very interesting!); went to the M&M factory (had to make a stop to get PINK M&Ms for Ms Raines and of course YELLOW for Nick); met up with the wedding party to have dinner at Binoins
Tuesday – wedding day!; then drove to Flaggstaff, AZ; the tempature changed a bit from Vegas to Flaggstaff.
Wednesday – drove the rest of the way to Scot (Farmington, NM); made a stop at the Meteor Crater and got Nick a Route 66 shirt which he had to immediately put on.
Thursday – Hung around Scot’s house and went to an animal museum
Friday – Drove into Durango, CO and got to play in snow; Nick loved it! We had snow fights, built a snow man, and got Nick ski gloves. LOL; got to meet and eat dinner with Scot’s girlfriend; she is super sweet and Nick loved playing with her; went bowling….
Saturday – drove through snow to get to the airport; flight was delayed; barely made our connecting flight home; then finally landed 2 hours after we were originally scheduled to land.

Overall, the trip was great!

5 year old check up

Nick has his check up. He kept asking if there were shots. Debi would tell him she didn’t know. He would always respond with “Since I am 5 years old, I won’t cry because I am a big boy now.” Thankfully, there were no shots so we didn’t have to find out if he would cry or not. He 36 lbs (25%) and 42 inches tall (50%). He gained 3lbs and grew 3 inches in a year. YAY Nick! The pediatrician thinks the removal of his adenoids and tonsils played a part in it as well since they were causing him not to want to eat alot cause of the pain.
