2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp flour
3 cups milk
3 eggs yolks, beaten
1 tsp butter
1/2 cup toasted almonds
1/2 tsp almond extract

| Instructions |
Mix sugar, salt, cornstarch, and flour; gradually stir in milk; cook over moderate heat.
Stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils; boil 1 minute then remove from heat.
Slowly stir half of the mixture into eggs;
blend into hot mixture in saucepan; boil 1 minute more; stirring constantly
Remove from heat; blend in butter, almond extract, and toasted almonds
Pour into baked pie shell and chill for 2 hours
